If you’re just starting out with microdosing, here’s a safe place to begin:

• Beginner Microdose: 0.5 to 1 gram (fresh truffles)

The Fadiman protocol is a popular beginner method: take a dose every third day (1 day on, 2 days off). A more advanced method is the Stamets protocol, which involves 4 consecutive days of microdosing followed by 3 days off. This cycle is then repeated.

There are many other protocols, and you’re encouraged to experiment to find what suits you best.

A typical grow kit can yield multiple harvests, depending on the strain and growing conditions. On average, the first flush produces 150–250 grams of fresh mushrooms. You may be able to achieve additional flushes by continuing to care for the kit after the first harvest.

Magic truffles are the underground sclerotia (dense fungal formations) that grow at the base of certain psychedelic mushrooms. They have a firmer, rubbery texture and resemble small nodules. In contrast, magic mushrooms are the above-ground fruiting bodies of the same fungi species.

Both contain similar psychoactive compounds—primarily psilocybin—but truffles generally have lower concentrations due to their underground growth. This means higher doses of truffles are often needed to achieve the same effects as mushrooms.

In terms of experience, truffles tend to produce gentler effects with a shorter duration, making them a popular choice for beginners. Magic mushrooms, however, can produce more intense and longer-lasting psychedelic experiences.
